Seasonal Climate
Spring — Gradual under the forest canopy. Snow retreats from the woodland paths through March, and new growth begins in April. The dense tree cover keeps temperatures a few degrees cooler than open countryside. Rainfall is well-distributed, and the forest floor is lush by May.
Summer — Temperate and shaded. The canopy moderates summer heat, keeping highs around 26–29 °C even in July. The forest creates its own humidity, and dew is heavy on morning walks. Thunderstorms rumble through from time to time but are less intense than on exposed terrain. Nights are cool and still.
Autumn — The signature season in Zlip. The old-growth forests produce vivid foliage from late September through November — copper beeches, golden oaks, and flaming maples. Early morning fog drifts through the valleys, burning off by mid-morning. First frosts arrive in late October.
Winter — Moderate for the interior. The forest provides shelter from the worst winds, and snowfall, while regular from December through February, accumulates less than in the open highlands. Temperatures drop to −5 °C on cold nights, but the wooded surroundings rarely see the extreme lows of the mountain towns.
