Staszow (620 m)
A southern highland settlement above the lower Vladir valley, Staszow is known for its traditional crafts and close-knit pastoral communities. The elevated terrain brings cooler temperatures than the coastal lowlands, with reliable rainfall that sustains the surrounding pastures. Winters can be harsh at altitude, but the sheltered position of the town itself offers some protection from the mountain winds.

Seasonal Climate
Spring — Cool and wet. The southern foothills catch moisture from the Adriatic, and March through May is the rainiest period. Snow melts from the pastures through March, but night frosts persist into April at this altitude. The surrounding grasslands green rapidly once the thaw sets in.
Summer — Pleasantly warm, cooler than the lowlands. Daytime highs reach 25–28 °C in July, with strong sunshine at altitude. Evening temperatures drop quickly. Rain showers are frequent, especially from orographic lift on the nearby slopes, keeping the pastures lush throughout the season.
Autumn — Unsettled and increasingly cold. Rain is heavy from October as Adriatic weather systems sweep across the foothills. Fog fills the lower valleys while the hilltops remain clear. First snowfall on the upper pastures comes as early as late October, with regular frost from November.
Winter — Cold and exposed. Snow is reliable from December, accumulating on the high pastures where it can persist through March. Temperatures regularly drop to −5 °C in January. The sheltered position of the town itself provides some respite from the worst mountain winds, but conditions remain harsh above the settlement.
