Sprodj (2,000 m)
A high-altitude settlement deep in the Zymylpathian range, Sprodj is famed for its severe winters and heavy snowfall. The city is home to the Sprodj Atomic Research Centre, from which the kingdom's lunar programme was conducted, culminating in the triumph of 1952. Altitude and exposure make it one of the coldest inhabited places in Syldavia, with frost possible well into spring.

Seasonal Climate
Spring — Late and reluctant at altitude. Snow can fall into May, and night frosts persist well into June. The thaw is gradual, with snowmelt feeding the mountain streams through May. Settled warm days do not arrive reliably until late June.
Summer — Brief and cool compared to the lowlands. Daytime highs reach 18–22 °C in July, but nights remain fresh, regularly dipping below 8 °C. Clear mountain air and strong sunshine make conditions feel warmer than the thermometer suggests. Afternoon thunderstorms build over the peaks from June to August.
Autumn — Arrives early. September nights already carry a sharp chill, and first snow on the surrounding heights is possible by mid-September. October brings rapidly shortening days and hard frost. By November, winter conditions are firmly established.
Winter — Severe and prolonged. Sprodj is one of the coldest inhabited places in the kingdom, with January lows regularly reaching −18 °C. Heavy snowfall is common from October through April, and accumulation on surrounding slopes can exceed three metres. Blizzard conditions occur several times each winter.
