Seasonal Climate
Spring — Warm and wet. The lower valley receives generous rainfall in spring, and the landscape greens quickly from March. April brings warm days ideal for the orchards that surround the town. Thunderstorms become more frequent through May as the air mass destabilises.
Summer — Hot in the river valley, with daytime highs reaching 30–33 °C in July and August. Coastal proximity tempers the worst of the heat, though the valley can trap warm air on still days. Rainfall drops significantly from June, though isolated storms can bring brief but heavy downpours. Harvest preparations begin in late August.
Autumn — The harvest season. September and October are warm and increasingly dry — ideal for the grape and fruit harvests that define the local calendar. Temperatures fall gradually, with the first frosts arriving in late November. Rainfall picks up from mid-October, especially from southerly systems off the Adriatic.
Winter — Mild by Syldavian standards, thanks to the coastal influence. Snow is rare in the valley, though the surrounding hills may see a dusting from December. January lows reach −1 to −3 °C, with cool damp conditions prevailing. The river valley can trap fog during prolonged calm periods.
